يحتفل العالم باليوم العالمي للغة العربية في الثامن عشر من شهر ديسمبر كل عام، وذلك لتكريم اللغة العربية كإحدى أكثر اللغات انتشاراً واستعمالاً في العالم. حيث أن اللغة العربية على مر القرون كانت هي أساس التبادلات بين البلدان وعبر الثقافات. 
وقد كان لعلماء اللغة العربية دور بالغ الأهمية في حفظ وصون وتطوير قواعدها وعلى سبيل المثال لا الحصر: أبو الأسود الدؤلي وهو أول من وضع علم النحو، والخليل بن أحمد الفراهيدي ويعد من أئمة اللغة والأدب وواضع علم العروض، وسيبويه الذي ساد أهل عصره في اللغة رغم صغر سنه.
World Arabic Language Day is observed on December 18 to celebrate and honor one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Throughout the centuries, the Arabic language has been at the heart of exchanges between countries and across cultures.
The scholars of the Arabic language had a very important role in preserving and developing its rules, for example, but not limited to: Abu Al-Aswad Al-Du’ali, who was the first to develop the science of grammar, and Al-Khalil bin Ahmed Al-Farahidi, and he is considered one of the imams of Arabic language and literature and the founder of the science of prosody, and Sibawayh, who led the people of his time in the language despite his young age.
