Every year on September 8, the world comes together to celebrate International Literacy Day, a day dedicated to reminding us that Education is not just a basic skill but a fundamental human right and a powerful tool for empowerment.
As UNESCO beautifully puts it:
“Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope. It is a tool for daily life in modern society. It is a bulwark against poverty and a building block of development.”
On this day, we celebrate our students, teachers, and communities who dedicate themselves to learning and teaching. Let us work together to ensure that every child, youth, and adult has the opportunity to unlock their potential through the gift of literacy.
Because when we light the lamp of learning in one heart, we brighten the path for generations to come.
في كل عام، وتحديدًا في 8 سبتمبر، يجتمع العالم للاحتفال بـ اليوم الدولي لمحو الأمية، اليوم الذي يذكرنا أن التعليم ليست مجرد مهارة أساسية، بل هي حق إنساني وأداة قوية للتمكين.
وكما ذكرت منظمة اليونسكو:
“الأمية جسر من البؤس إلى الأمل. إنها أداة للحياة اليومية في المجتمع الحديث، ودرع في مواجهة الفقر، وحجر أساس للتنمية.”
وفي هذا اليوم، نحتفل بطلابنا ومعلمينا ومجتمعاتنا التي تكرّس نفسها للتعلم والتعليم. وندعو لنعمل معًا لضمان أن يحصل كل طفل وشاب وبالغ على فرصة لاكتشاف إمكاناته من خلال هدية المعرفة، لأننا عندما نضيء مصباح التعلم في قلب واحد، فإننا ننير الطريق لأجيال كاملة قادمة.
